Dieppe Dash

Brighton Belle is entered into the Dieppe Dash! It is an annual race sponsored by Brighton Marina Yacht Club, Transmanche Ferries, Circle de Voile de Dieppe and Sussex Yachts. 

Brighton Belle will race across the channel on Friday and once we have all exhausted our competitive instincts it will be a very social weekend.  We can't promise but French hospitality is usually rather fine.  Bonjour matelot!

In outline the plan for the weekend will be:

Late Thursday 30th April - arrive at Brighton Marina and stow gear on Brighton Belle. Prepare the boat before sliding off to the fabulous new Brighton Marina Yacht Club building in the heart of the marina for a meal and a couple of beers, Skippers briefing and sleep on board.

Friday 1st May - Up with the larks for the start of the Dieppe Dash race. The start is just out side the marina.

70 NM, 8-12 hours depending on the wind.  Last year a record was set, 6 hours 50 mins., but reckon the whole crew ate too many beans and it will be difficult to beat. Arrive in the evening into Dieppe marina, berth reserved, welcomed by the Dieppe Yacht Club....bit of a party!

Saturday 2nd May - Visit the market in town, have a coffee and then....the party continues with a buffet and music and lots of socialising in Dieppe YC.

Sunday 3rd May - An option to seek shelter from our new found friends at the yacht club and take a short sail to Fecamp, about 30NM. Another beautiful town with the marina right in the centre.

Monday 4 May - 65 NM sail back to Brighton Marina.  Sometimes there is a return dash so depending how we feel we may race back as well.

This looks to be a fantastic weekend. Steve is bringing some of his sailing buddies so sign up early to avoid disappointment.  As usual, members and guest sailing rates apply. Food and other expenses will be split between all crew.
