Paul Taylor
My passion for sailing began in Edinburgh when a friend introduced me to dinghy sailing. I was hooked immediately and began looking for other opportunities to sail. I sailed dinghies for the next decade, first crewing for more experienced sailors; ultimately helming my own Fireball in club races. I then turned to yachts and progressed through crewing in club racing, deliveries and regattas; becoming qualified (RYA Yachtmaster Offshore); skippering my own yacht in inshore races and cruising; and bareboat charters in the Mediterranean, Australia and in the West Highlands.
I became a skipper on Brighton Belle in 2016. I enjoy mixing relaxed cruising with longer delivery trips. Cruises I have led include the western Canary Islands; an ocean passage from Tenerife to Madeira; a North Sea crossing from Amsterdam to London; cruises in the Inner and Outer Hebrides; around the Channel Islands and across to Plymouth; and A Coruña to Baiona, taking in the Galician Rías. I have also taken charge of delivery legs from Dublin to Plymouth, from Sligo to Galway on the Irish west coast and from Le Havre to Roscoff in Brittany.
